I love to make photographs, it’s as simple as that.
Inevitably, the question always arises, “what type of photographer are you?” It seems a simple question doesn’t it? But as in life itself, it turns out the answer is not always as simple as it appears. Do I make portraits? Yes, I do, but that doesn’t mean I’m exclusively a portrait photographer. So am I a landscape photographer? Well, yes I am, but again I don’t limit myself to just that. So wildlife then? Or perhaps travel? Absolutely! But why would I not afford myself all of the wonderful opportunities this world has to offer? I am a photographer, full stop.
I photograph those subjects which I find fascinating and exciting and I won’t limit myself to one particular genre. As the American psychologist Gerald Jampolsky said, “A truly creative person rids him or herself of all self-imposed limitations.” Today I may photograph the golden rays of the rising sun as it illuminates the Spanish Steps in Rome, tomorrow it may be an infant gorilla contemplating his environment on a grassy slope, or perhaps a professor surrounded by his beloved books, but there will be one commonality in whatever I am photographing and that is the passion I bring to each and every subject. Whether it be a majestic landscape or a simple spider web weighed down by the morning dew, it is this passion that you will see in every one of my photographs.
